theclosing

theclosing is a music and art group consisting of Daniela Auer, Alexander Hengl and Lukas Lehner, collaborating since 2004.
Their sound disrespects genres and is not easily classifiable. The group mixes analogue and digital sounds and samples their own recordings of improvised instruments, noises and voices as well as random found sound. Free soundscapes and melodies are often held together by dominant and playful rhythms.
They entertain on and off collaborations with friends and acquaintances (such as bleubird, cars & trains, Iris Dittler, Aas der Basis, audio88, k-the-i???, babel fishh, Matthias Bernhard, bomarr, Rukmini Klier, Markus Baumgartner, Andreas Zemann, form, Gunter Damisch, Christian Bazant-Hegemark et al.)
Their highly anticipated debut album will come out on Circle Into Square later this year!
the way to M
Their preview EP "the way to M" is available as a free download at Circleintosquare.com, presenting a rough profile of their work to date. The EP is also the soundtrack to the homonymous animated short by Zsuzsanna Werner, which won the Asifa Austria Award/Best Animation in 2011.
"awoken to some kind of morning drowsiness theclosing sends you off, to follow close to the beat of something wild, to pass soundscapes on safe paths, unknown and inviting. everything seems familiar yet so strange, so promising in the distance, so welcome where you are. you follow the noises, watch them create a dream-like symphonic scenery, which, breaking down, leads in ever new directions, inviting to discover, to explore, to stay.
when you feel the tip on your shoulder the strange becomes home, until you feel enthralled, absorbed, held—you wouldn’t want it to let go."
